Description

Name: Strike of Diving Falcon
Nickname: Strike or Falcon
Age: 14 moons (1 year, 2 months & 2 weeks)
Gender: Male
Breed: Ocicat and shorthair mix. Other breeds may be included, but they are unknown.
Tribe: Tribe of Lasting Water
Rank: Trooper
Points: N/A

Items / Accessories: N/A

Brief Personality: [Sarcastic] [Shy] [Untrusting] [Patient] [Loyal]

[Sarcastic] Strike has a very sarcastic sense of humour that sometimes borders on being dark. It is a trait he shares with his mother, who was well known for her sharp tongue. His sarcasm also serves as a defense mechanism to prevent others from getting close enough to hurt him.

[Shy] Due to moving around a lot when he was just a kit, Strike never had a chance to set up roots. Because of this he has become introverted and socially awkward, finding it difficult to break out of his shell to make new friends.

[Untrusting] Strike has a general lack of faith in most of the cats he meets, feeling that they will eventually turn on him. This is another result of the constant shifting around when he was young. He's never had the opportunity to develop trusting relationships with anyone outside of his own family and will need time to warm up to others.

[Patient] Strike has a seemingly limitless amount of patience with others, mostly due to his adoptive sister being so abrasive and arrogant. He's learned to just hold still and wait for the right moment to bring something up or do something. He'll never pressure others into talking before they're ready.

[Loyal] In spite of his lack of faith in others, Strike himself is unshakeably loyal to those he cares for. He realizes this is a flaw that has the potential to bring him harm, but he doesn't care. His loyalty must be earned, but once it is he'll never sway.

Brief History: [Kit] [Apprentice] [Warrior] [Loner] [Trooper]

[Kit] Strike was born beyond the three tribes, into a different tribe. Life there was good, despite a rocky relationship with his parents. His father wasn't around often and his mother was so devoted to her work that she rarely had time for him. It was because of her obsession with her work that he and his five siblings were adopted into Bird of Red Feathers' family. He loved his foster family, and he did enjoy his life. At the same time though, he found himself craving adventure. He believed there had to be something better than life in the mountains they called home. Then one day, this thirst for adventure was realized.

The ground began to tremble and shake. The roof of the cave his tribe called home began crashing down. Despite the bravado he wore, Strike was terrified. His older brother had to leap to the rescue, ushering him out of the collapsing cave. Many cats died that day and many more went missing, including his father. Being so young, Strike didn't fully realize the weight of what was happening. Once the quake was over his rebellious attitude returned as he and his family began the long trek out of the mountains. It was a brutal journey and along the way he lost his littermates. One died from illness despite his mother's best attempts to help. Another was scooped up by a hawk. A third fell to his death. The fourth one is the one that made him realize the cruel reality he faced.

It had been a long day and they were resting. It was only he, his mother and two littermates left. After a while his mother announced she was going hunting and she told her kits to remain put. Strike disobeyed this order and wandered off in search of his own food. He found a dead rabbit and thinking he had hit the jack-pot, dug in. He didn't realize the fox was there until it attacked him. Injured, scared and hopelessly out-matched, he stood trembling and waiting to be killed. Then his brother leaped out, attacking the fox with all his might. It killed him within a moment, but that moment was enough to give Strike the opening he needed. He ran, diving into a bramble patch and waiting until the fox gave up before returning to the place his mother had left them.

With the guilt eating away at him, the family pressed on. When crossing a stream his last remaining sibling, his sister, fell into the rushing water, vanishing from sight. His mother tried to save her, but she was whisked away too quickly to be helped.

The next day his mother dropped him off at a clan border, instructing him to wait there. When she turned to leave he asked if she was coming back. There was a long pause and in that pause he broke down, confessing his role in his brothers' death, spilling his heart out, unable to cope with the guilt any longer. His mother returned to him, rasped her tongue over his forehead and promised she'd be back. He waited there, terrified of the consequence of disobeying again. She never returned. In the morning he was picked up by the dawn patrol and taken into the camp where he was reunited with his adoptive family.

[Apprentice] Taken in by a clan, Strike was forced to change his name to fit their customs. He changed his name to Falconpaw.

Training in the clan taught him far more about fighting than he ever would have learned otherwise. He also learned how to hunt, which is something he never would have learned as a part of his old tribe. He wasn't particularly good at it, but he managed. It was a water-loving group, so he learned how to swim, becoming fairly confident with it. He enjoyed learning the culture and the skills that they knew, but his heart ached for his old life and his old home.

He had grown bitter and distant by this time, unwilling to speak to others. The only cat he allowed himself to be close too was his adoptive sister Sweet, because of the things they had gone through, He felt she was the only one that could understand him, and so she grew to be his best friend. Her habits sometimes irritated him, but he grit his teeth and bore it. He didn't want to lose one of the only connections he had left in the world.

Strike was also relatively depressed during this time. He felt (and still feels) that he should have died instead of his brother. He also believed (and still believes) that it was all his fault that his mother didn't come back for him. That he had brought her such shame she couldn't bear to be associated with him in any way shape or form.

[Warrior] As a warrior, Strike took the name Falconstrike. He was a ferocious fighter, able to hold his own in any battle he was faced with. The worst of his depression began to fade, but he still felt suffocated living within the clan's boundaries. Nightmares began to haunt his sleep, making him restless and irritable. He didn't outwardly lash out at others though. Instead he bit his tongue and adopted a fake smile to keep anyone from knowing how upset and angry he was.

When Sweet came to him with a plan to leave the clan behind, he acted stubborn and reluctant, but in reality he couldn't wait to leave the place behind. He was sick and tired of living in such an over-crowded place, forced to eat fish and make small talk with cats he could barely stand. They left as soon as they could.

[Loner] Leaving the clan behind, Strike was able to return to his original name, although the nickname Falcon stuck from the clan. He didn't mind it very much. At least he was free from the confines of the clan.

Together he and Sweet journeyed away from that forest, wandering aimlessly. Along they way they made friends, recruiting others into their travelling party. Among these cats was a she-cat called Cross. She was gentle and kind, providing him a friendship he didn't know he'd needed. He began talking to her almost as frequently as his adoptive sister. She began to capture his heart. It is obvious the two feel deeply for one another, but they aren't officially together.

Roleplay Example:

It had been a long day. A long day spent padding over rocky terrain that made even his calloused paws ache. He was fairly certain some of the cats in the group must have cracked their pads open by this point. His muscles burned from the endless walking. Exhausted he turned his pale blue eyes towards Sweet. She seemed just as ruffled and tired as he was. Maybe they should stop to rest for the night. Besides, they needed to fill their stomachs eventually. His own belly was beginning to rumble, refusing to be ignored. "I think we should stop and rest," he announced, "my paws feel like they're gonna fall off." With that said he surveyed the group, waiting to see how they would react.

Extras:

Strike is terrified of foxes because of how his brother was killed
He is incredibly claustrophobic and hates cramped spaces
His favourite prey is hawk
The sound of rushing water calms him

Like Amadi I have decided to leave kugyay behind and seek out a new place to role-play my tribe character. Since she's relocating Sweet to :iconbeyond-the-skyline:, I decided I'd move Strike there as well. Separating the pair seems wrong, based on the history between the two. Also, sorry about not filling in the lineart provided, I wanted too, but my art program wouldn't let me. Also, all the characters mentioned are friends that plan on joining the group as well. I'll update the relationships once they're in for sure c: Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy :D
